Vision
To set up and operate a senior secondary school (under the direct subsidy scheme) as a learning community that puts creativity at the heart of its education process; to guide young people in developing their broad-based vision, realizing their creative potential, and preparing them for successful careers in the creative industries; to facilitate exchange and research between the School and creative industry professionals in the Asian region, acting as a "laboratory" for new ideas and concepts.
The "Creative Industries"
are the key to all knowledge-based economies in the 21st century.
The definition is widely applied to a group of industries and businesses
with a livelihood that is founded on original creativity. These industries
include - Architecture, Design, Film and Video, Television and Radio,
Digital Entertainment, Software & Computing, Performing Arts, Publishing,
Advertising.
Mission
- To provide senior secondary
students with a all-rounded creative education that reduces
examination driven components to a minimum so as to allow students
and teachers more time and space to develop creative approaches
to learning;
- To offer a unique inter-disciplinary curriculum that responds to the shifting of paradigms in a knowledge economy, facilitates students' mindset change as well as skills competency, and focuses the learning process in the following four broad areas:
- personal discovery through creative and expressive tasks,
- cultural literacy and vision
- competency in communicative skills (languages, IT, media and creative skills), and
- creative thinking
- To prepare students with
the mindset, knowledge and skills required for further tertiary
studies in arts, media and design and for successful careers
in the new economic infrastructure.
Principal Designate
Mr Hui Wai Tin is at present a secondary school principal. He graduated with First Class Honour from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1978. Afterwards, he also took his Certificate of Education and Master of Arts (Education). Since Mr Hui left the university, he dedicated his career in local education: from a mathematics teacher who deeply devoted to the class activities, with the all-rounded growth from his exposure in various posts in the school, and up till now he has already possessed over ten years of experience in secondary school principalship. Also, he was seconded to Education Department as a member of Decision Support Unit. Concerning Mr Hui’s involvement in education and social service, he participates actively in educational bodies, youth activities, principals’ professional development and mathematics education. He had continuously contributed articles about education in local newspaper, and two books had been published: 《教育 -- 一個偉大的希望》及《世紀交接間的香港教育》.
